🔪Instructions
This easy sloppy joes recipe involves just a few simple steps:
Preparing Your Slow Cooker
Prepare your slow cooker by coating it with a non-stick agent. Any nonstick cooking spray or oil will work. Olive oil and avocado oil are my go-to coatings.
NOTE: some slow cooker inserts come with a nonstick surface. Use of a non-stick agent is still suggested. However, oil is sometimes recommended rather than spray to protect the longevity of the non-stick surface. Check your slow cooker's manual if you have any concerns.
Alternatively, you can choose to use a slow cooker liner with the easy crock pot recipe.

🔁Substitutions
- Are a you a fan of sweeter dishes? - Swap the chili sauce with sweet chili sauce and the dill pickles for sweet pickles or relish.
- Want a spicier kick? Drizzle with hot sauce or top with chili flakes. Spicy pickles and a spicy chili sauce will also help dial things up.
- Not a fan of cheddar, American cheese is great in this cheesy sloppy joes recipe
- Skip the ground beef and use ground turkey instead!

- Are you as sloppy Joes fan? You will also love chicken satay sloppy joes, Buffalo chicken sloppy joes, or cheesesteak sloppy Joes.

Storing
Leftover homemade sloppy Joes can be stored in an airtight container. They will last for 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
😉Hints & hacks
- If your diners will be eating at different times, melt cheese into each serving rather than the whole pot at once.
- Cooking for a larger crowd on busy weeknights? This dish can be easily made into a double batch.
- Store cheesesteak sloppy Joes leftovers in meal-sized portions for easy reheat-and-eat weeknight meals
- I always recommend the use of a slow cooker liner. Of course, this is an optional step. I like to purchase my liners in bulk for a less expensive per-piece price.
- In the market for a new slow cooker? I love mine!
- Don't forget to plug your slow cooker in and turn it on! 😏

Tracy K Morgan says
I really wanted to love this recipe, but I didn't care for the texture of the meat with everything added to it. It reminds me of a "loose meat" sandwich from the midwest. Just an odd flavor combination, with the chili sauce added to it.
The Lazy Slow Cooker says
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy this dish. I guess not every flavor combo is for everyone. You can definitely make it without the chili sauce. For a different texture, I would suggest browning the beef first.
