Slow Cooker Steak Bites

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs stew meat Or other beef suggested above, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup onion diced (one medium onion)
  • 2 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt or more to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Place 3 lbs stew meat in the bottom of a greased slow cooker
  • Add 1 cup beef broth, 1 cup onion, 2 tablespoon garlic, 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, and½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Stir to combine
  • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours. Low is preferred for the most tender beef.
  • Optional step: If you would like a thicker sauce, mix together 2 tablespoons cold water with 1 tablespoon potato starch. Stir this slurry into the suace in the bottom of your slow cooker toward the end of cooking time.

Notes

I like to use stew meat for this recipe as it is already cut into bite sized chunks (lazy me!) and it is quite economical.  If you are not a fan of stew meat, round steak or sirloin steak can be cute into bite sized pieces and used instead.
To add an even richer quality to the sauce, add 4 tablspoons butter along with the other sauce ingredients at the beginning.  
You do not need to brown the meat first before adding it to this recipe.  However, if you would like to, it will add additional color and flavor to the final dish.
