Ingredients

  • ½ head cabbage sliced
  • 1-1½ lbs sausage links sliced
  • cup barley
  • 1 10 oz can diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 tablespoon old bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • place 1-1½ lbs sausage links, ⅔ cup barley, 1 10 oz can diced tomatoes with green chilies, 1 tablespoon old bay seasoning, 1 tablespoon garlic, 2 cups chicken broth into greased slow cooker and stir to combine
  • add in as much cabbage as you can, taking care to make sure the lid fits securely onto the pot
  • cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-9 hours
  • add salt and pepper to taste, if needed.

Notes

NOTEs: the cabbage will shrink down tremendously while cooking. 
If you like, you can brown the sausage prior to adding it to the slow cooker.
