Lazy Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef

Delicious strips of beef and red pepper topped with sesame seeds and green onion.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs flank or sirloin steak strips
  • ¼ cup potato starch
  • ½ cup soy sauce or gluten free alternative
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • cup brown sugar Or sugar free alternative
  • tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 red pepper cut in strips
  • sesame seeds to sprinkle on top
  • chopped green onion (optional) optional

Instructions

  • If you are using a slow cooker liner, place 2 lbs flank or sirloin steak strips in liner (if you are not using a liner, put beef into some sort of bag that you can tightly close, like a zip lock bag OR a mixing bowl)
  • add ¼ cup potato starch to bag and close tightly (or bowl)
  • shake bag so that all beef strips are coated in starch (or stir)
  • add ½ cup soy sauce , ½ cup beef broth, ⅓ cup brown sugar , 1½ tablespoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon ground ginger to bag (or bowl
  • close bag again and shake to coat (or stir to mix)
  • If using a slow cooker liner, place it in slow cooker, If not, dump ingredients into slow cooker
  • Add 1 red pepper, sliced on top of meat mixture.
  • cover and cook on low 6-8 hours.
  • When you are ready to serve, stir and top with sesame seeds and chopped green onion
